Amman and the Temple of Hercules at the Citadel. The Citadel ruins sit on the highest hill of Amman (Jabal al-Qala'a) at about 850m above sea level. Artifacts found here have been dated to the Bronze Age (BC 2000).
The Umayyad Palace at the Citadel - built in the 8th Century. The palace was an extensive complex of royal and residential buildings. The palace wasn’t complete for long (only about 30 years) when it was destroyed by an earthquake and never fully rebuilt.
